The actor, director, and writer is now adding camera operator to his list of skills. Cooper recently revealed that he’s officially joined the International Cinematographer’s Guild (IATSE Local 600) and will be operating the camera himself in his new project.
Bradley Cooper: Actor, Director… and Now Cinematographer?
During an interview on The Pat McAfee Show at the Super Bowl, Cooper shared how pumped he is for this next step in his filmmaking journey.

“I just joined the union, yeah. I’ll operate the camera, which I’m very excited about,” he said.
He’s already been testing the waters, filming some shots in New York’s Chinatown ahead of production.
“We start in two weeks, so it’s kind of crazy.”
For someone who’s already proven his skills as a director with A Star Is Born and Maestro, it’s clear Cooper is pushing himself even further.
What We Know About Is This Thing On
Details about the film are still under wraps, but what we do know is that Cooper will both direct and star in it.
The film also features:
- Laura Dern
- Will Arnett
- Possibly Emily Blunt (though her involvement is unclear)

Cooper explained that the project has gone through multiple rewrites, saying:
“It was a project, and then I rewrote it along with Will [Arnett] and Mark Chappell. I conceived of it, then we put together a team, and now I’m directing.”
It sounds like this has been a passion project for him—one that he’s fully committed to shaping from start to finish.

A Super Bowl Interview with a Side of Filmmaking Talk
Cooper was at the Super Bowl not just to talk about his movie, but also to support his team—the Philadelphia Eagles.
A lifelong Eagles fan, he’s been vocal about his love for the team, even playing an Eagles-obsessed character in Silver Linings Playbook. With filming starting soon, fans are eager to see how Cooper’s hands-on approach—literally—will shape the film’s style. One thing’s for sure—Bradley Cooper isn’t afraid to push himself, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
